Best Affiliate Programs for Beginners 2026: I Checked 9, Two Passed
Looking for an affiliate program that keeps paying you?
Good.
Most “best affiliate programs” lists rank 10, 20, even 50 programs. Almost none of them check the two things that decide whether a beginner ever builds a monthly check.
Does it pay for as long as the customer stays? And does the company tell you, in writing, when you get paid?
I checked nine popular programs against those two rules. Two passed.
The best affiliate programs for beginners pay you every month for as long as your customer stays, and publish when they pay. I checked nine popular programs on those two rules. Only two passed: HBA's Funnel Builder at 80%, paid weekly, and systeme.io at 60%, paid monthly.

Full disclosure. I’m an HBA affiliate and a systeme.io affiliate, and I earn recurring commissions if you join either one through my links. Those are the only two programs that passed my test, which is exactly why you should check my work. Every rule and figure here is sourced, and both get a real section on where they fall short. Full disclosure
What Makes An Affiliate Program Worth A Beginner’s Time?
Two rules. A program has to pay you every month for as long as your customer stays subscribed, and it has to publish its payout schedule and minimum on its own website. Fail either one and it’s not on my list, however big the brand or the percentage.
No exceptions.
Here’s why I won’t bend on either one.
Rule one: it pays for life, not for a year. A commission that stops at month 12 isn’t recurring income. It’s a one-time commission paid out in installments. Every customer you bring in disappears from your check a year later, so you’re running just to stay level.
A lifetime commission stacks.
Ten customers this month and ten next month is twenty paying customers, and they stay as long as they’re happy. It’s the difference between hauling water in a bucket and laying pipe.
Rule two: it publishes when it pays. If a company won’t put its payout date and minimum on its own website, you can’t plan around it, and you can’t hold it to anything. Beginners quit when nothing shows up. A published schedule is a promise you can point to.
I’ve been doing this since 1996. Every program that built me anything lasting passed both rules.
Nine Programs, Two Rules: The Scorecard
Here’s how all nine do, read off each company’s own pages. Amazon’s rates come from Lasso’s 2026 breakdown, because Amazon’s fee page can’t be read automatically.
| Program | Pays for life? | Publishes schedule and minimum? | Result |
|---|---|---|---|
| HBA Funnel Builder | Yes, 80% while the customer stays active | Yes, weekly on Thursdays | Passes |
| systeme.io | Yes, 60% for the life of the subscription | Yes, monthly on the 10th, $30 minimum | Passes |
| GetResponse | No, 40% for 12 months | Partly, “around the 13th” | Fails rule one |
| Kit | No, 50% for 12 months, then 10% only at 10+ referrals a year | No | Fails both |
| AWeber | Yes, for the lifetime of paid accounts | No | Fails rule two |
| ClickFunnels | Yes, while the membership continues | No date or minimum | Fails rule two |
| GoHighLevel | Not stated | No | Fails both |
| JVZoo and WarriorPlus | Mostly one-time products | Set by each vendor | Fails rule one |
| Amazon Associates | No, one sale, 24-hour cookie | Yes, Net-60 | Fails rule one |
Seven of nine fail. Most stop paying after a year or less, or won't say when they pay.
Why Is HBA’s Funnel Builder Number One?
HBA wins on both rules, by the widest margin of anything I checked. It pays the highest rate, it pays for life, and it’s the only program here that pays every week.
On rule one, HBA’s compensation plan says: “you’ll earn 80% of the entire sale every month, for as long as the customer remains active.” No 12-month cutoff. No status you have to earn to keep it.
On rule two, the same plan says: “Commissions are paid once per week via our commissions portal every Thursday.” Sales clear a five-day hold first.
Weekly.
Everything else on this list pays monthly or slower. Here’s what that looks like in my own HBA back office.
Four Thursdays in a row.
The schedule in practice, not just on paper.
For a beginner, a first commission inside a week instead of six weeks is the difference between staying with it and quitting.
The Funnel Builder is $25 a month and pays 80%, which is $20 a month per active customer. Two referrals covers your own subscription and puts you $15 ahead.
Two active customers is $40 a month against your own $25. This is arithmetic, not a projection. It assumes both customers stay active, it’s before processing fees, and HBA’s own disclosure shows most affiliates never get there. More on that in a minute.
The catch: you have to be a customer to earn. HBA’s FAQ says “You must own a product to earn commissions on it,” so earning on Funnel Builder sales means paying for Funnel Builder. Every product and tier is in my full Home Business Academy breakdown.
See the HBA Funnel Builder and what’s included, which is my affiliate link.
Why Is systeme.io The Runner-Up?
systeme.io passes both rules and is the only program here you can join without spending a dime. Its affiliate page promises “Lifetime recurring, earn every month the referral stays subscribed,” and there’s no purchase required.
One catch the affiliate page leaves out: VAT comes off first. systeme.io’s own help center prints two worked examples on the $17 Startup plan. A business buyer paying no VAT earns you $10.20 a month. An individual buyer in a VAT country earns you $8.43. On the $97 Unlimited plan, the no-VAT figure is $58.20.
The slower part is getting paid. Payouts go out monthly on the 10th with a $30 minimum, so you need three or four Startup customers, depending on VAT, before your first payout. The full program is in my systeme.io review.

Why Aren’t GetResponse, Kit And The Others On The List?
Because a commission that ends after a year, or a payout date nobody will write down, isn’t what a beginner needs to build a monthly check. They’re good tools. They’re just not good recurring programs for someone starting from zero.
GetResponse and Kit stop at 12 months. GetResponse’s partner page is clear about it: “40% commission for 12 months.” Kit pays 50% for the first year, then keeps paying only if you reach Bronze, which takes 10 or more paying referrals a year, and then it’s 10%. A strong first year. After that, the customer you worked to bring in mostly drops off your check.
AWeber, ClickFunnels and GoHighLevel don’t publish when they pay. AWeber’s lifetime commission is the right idea, but there’s no payout date or minimum on its public pages. ClickFunnels mentions “monthly payouts” with no date and no minimum. GoHighLevel doesn’t publish how long its commission lasts or when it pays.
They may well pay fine.
But you’d find out after you’d done the work.
Amazon Associates is on every list, so let’s be straight about it.
It doesn’t belong here. According to Lasso’s 2026 breakdown of Amazon’s rate card, health and personal care pay 1% and home improvement pays 3%. The cookie lasts 24 hours, payment is Net-60, and nothing recurs. Fine for a big review site doing volume. Wrong tool for a monthly check.
What About JVZoo And WarriorPlus?
They fail rule one. JVZoo and WarriorPlus are marketplaces, not single programs, and what sells there is mostly one-time launch products. Each vendor sets its own commission and decides when it pays. Some pay instantly, which feels great. But you start over with every launch.
None of this is a knock on the marketplaces. Some of those launches are worth promoting. I graded 61 of them in my JVZoo review, and the spread from best to worst was wide.
But a launch is a sprint. A recurring commission is a pipeline.
A beginner trying to build something that pays next year for the work done this month should start with a pipeline.
Is The HBA Math Too Good To Be True?
No, but the math only tells you what happens if you get customers, and most affiliates don’t get many. HBA publishes an earnings disclosure, and it’s the most important number on this page.
For 1 October 2025 to 30 September 2026, HBA reported 1,572 active affiliates. The average earned was $530 for the year, before subscription costs. The median was $0. Of the 26.5% who made at least one sale, the median was $203 for the year. HBA’s disclosure says it directly: “typical affiliates earn no income.”
Read that again.
Half of the affiliates who actually made a sale earned $203 or less in a year, while paying for a subscription. Two referrals to break even is a low bar, and most people still never clear it.
It’s not the program. It’s the work. You need traffic, a list and follow-up, and almost nobody builds all three. I wrote about why the typical result online is often zero in what making money online really looks like.
The Four Levers
Here’s what promoting a lifetime recurring program does for your business, compared with a one-time or 12-month program.
| Lever | Verdict | How, mechanically | What it costs you |
|---|---|---|---|
| Cost | Costs more with HBA, no change with systeme.io | HBA requires owning the $25 product to earn on it. systeme.io’s program is free with no purchase | $25 a month for HBA until your commissions cover it |
| Conversion | No change | A recurring commission doesn’t make anyone more likely to buy. Your offer, your list and your follow-up do that | The same traffic and copy work any program needs |
| Time | Saves | Each customer keeps paying without a new sale, and doesn’t drop off your check at month 13 | Time spent keeping customers, because a cancellation ends the commission |
| Edge | Temporary | Faster payouts and higher rates let you reinvest sooner. Anyone can join the same two programs, so the lasting edge is your list | Terms can change. HBA’s agreement allows amendments on 30 days’ notice |
A lifetime recurring program saves you from starting over every month, but it won’t lift your conversions or give you an edge on its own. Your list does that.
Where These Two Programs Fall Short
Both winners are programs I promote, so here’s what I’d want to know if I were you.
HBA’s documents don’t agree with each other. The compensation plan lists a $1 minimum, a five-day hold and payment through iPayout. The affiliate agreement says “There is a minimum commission amount of $20,” a seven-day maturity period, and payment by ACH, check or PayPal. My payouts land every Thursday, which matches the plan. Still, ask support which minimum applies before you count on it.
You pay before you earn with HBA. systeme.io lets you earn on a free account. HBA doesn’t. And if your own subscription lapses for 60 days, HBA’s plan says your referred customers and unpaid commissions get “reassigned to the next active affiliate in the upline.”
systeme.io is slow to pay the first time. Monthly payouts and a $30 floor mean your first check can take six weeks or more after your first sale.
Two programs is a short list. It’s the honest result of the two rules, not a shortcut. If either company changes its terms, this list changes too.
Who This Is For, And Who It Isn’t
This is for someone who wants a monthly check that keeps growing, and who’s willing to build a small email list to get it. Write, record or email a few times a week, and lifetime commissions reward that work for years.
It isn’t for someone chasing launch-day spikes. Love the energy of a big launch and an instant payout? JVZoo and WarriorPlus will suit you better, and I’d grade each launch before you promote it. If you don’t plan to build a list at all, start with my notes on email marketing for affiliates before you join anything.
You can do this. Not because it’s easy, but because it’s a skill, and anyone willing to put in the reps can learn it.
The Plan: Your First Recurring Commission
- Today, open a free systeme.io affiliate account and find your link in the affiliate dashboard. It costs nothing and gives you a lifetime offer to promote right away.
- Write down the first person you’d refer. Someone you know who needs a funnel or an email list. Prospecting is searching, not selling.
- Build one free lead magnet and one opt-in page on systeme.io’s free plan, which includes 2,000 contacts and three funnels.
- Write a five-email follow-up sequence that teaches one thing per email and links to the tool you use.
- Send two people to the page every day. Exposures are the leading indicator. Part-timers who make it do at least two a day.
- Add HBA once you can cover $25 a month without stress. Two active Funnel Builder customers covers it, and with Thursday payouts you’ll see it within a week when it happens.
- Don’t skip follow-up with your customers. Most people skip this one, which is why so many recurring commissions quietly stop recurring. A customer who never uses the tool cancels, and your commission goes with them.
Which Program Should A Beginner Pick?
HBA’s Funnel Builder, at $25 a month. It pays the highest rate of anything I checked, 80% for life, and it’s the only one that pays every week. Two active referrals covers your own cost.
It’s the wrong pick if you can’t spare $25 a month right now, or if you won’t use the funnel builder yourself, since you have to own what you sell.
The runner-up is systeme.io, free to join, 60% for life. It’s the right first choice if your budget is zero or you want to prove you can make a sale before paying for anything. You trade speed for zero risk: monthly payouts with a $30 floor.
Best value isn’t the cheapest. With HBA, the $25 buys you a higher rate and weekly cash flow. With systeme.io, you give up speed and keep your money.
Whichever you pick, the program is the easy part.
The work is the hard part.
